Elevator Suffers "De-commissioning"

Why isn't the lift working after all these years?
Well Susie thanks for your question, but after the boffins at health & safety got involved it was only a matter of time before our beloved elevator fell victim to its draconian policies and suffers the indignity of having to get  "de-commissioned" (taken out of action).
H&S identified 38 breaches, mainly to do with access to the power plant (located within the famous Moonbria Tower) and associated findings of asbestos and several other safety breaches. Given that the lift is a 'one off" elevator designed specifically for Moonbria, preliminary refurbishment quotes came in at over $250,000k AUD which clearly the buildings sinking fund cant afford at this time. The committee under Walter Oro's chair, hopes that at a future date Heritage Victoria will get involved and work on a solution for everyone, whilst keeping the integrity of the period lift intact. This is essential.
Thanks again Susie (unit 13) for asking the question, and apologies for the inconvenience, in you having to suffer three flights of stairs daily to get to your home. -Delores P.
